Article Content Thieves
It’s really too bad that some people try to profit off of the hard work of others by stealing their article content.
I recently posted an article “DoFollow Blogs Versus NoFollow Blogs“ on Ezinearticles.com and GoAritcles.com.
I was happy to see that people were picking up my article and posting it on their blogs. Unfortunately, one of the first that I know about that picked up the article was a blogger who is stealing my article content.
This blogger has my article, word for word on his blog with no references to me, or my “About the Author” box. So, I did the work of creating a good article, and this idiot gets quality content for his blog with no, or very little, work.
It appears they scraped the content of the article and stripped off the Biography box. This is a violation of the article directory policies, but they won’t go after violators, it’s up to the author to go after them.
I noticed other articles on the blog, and I suspect they were stolen just as mine was.
So, I have sent the blog owner a nice message, asking them to give me credit. We’ll see how that goes.
This is the first time, that I know of, I have had an article used like this.
The only way I knew of this thief, was I have a Google Alert setup to look for the keywords “dofollow blogs”.
When I got my alert email today, I saw my article title. I thought great, my article is starting to get picked up. Then I went to the site to find there is absolutely no reference to me, or my site.
This type of behavior could make article marketing (Bum Marketing) absolutely worthless.
So, if you are doing article marketing I suggest you setup some Google Alerts related to your article titles so you can spot content thieves.
We all need to be diligent on finding these people, and confronting them nicely. Then, if they take no action, we need to contact their web hosts and report them for copyright violations.
Oh great…the email I sent this person is a bad email address – I should have known that. So, now what do I do? Try to find them with Whois?
Guess I’ll try to find an email via their whois info.
If any of you have experience with this content theft kind of thing, please leave your experiences in the comments.

I hate to say it, but this type of problem is very common with article sites such as the ones you posted to. However, you were very smart to set up a Google Alert to track your post, a great idea for many reasons, and you seem to be doing the right thing to handle it.
However, most likely, it is going to come down to you asserting your copyright and getting the offending sites shut down. You probably will have to file DMCA notices on these sites at some point.
If it comes to that, please let me know and I’ll gladly do what I can to help.
No matter what though, best of luck with this and don’t hesitate to drop me a line if there is anything that I can do.
It’s sad to see it happen, but won’t Google slap the guy with duplicate content?
Hi Again Mike,
Some of the tips I’ve read in the past say to put a little hidden gibberish code at the end of your article and use Google alerts with your code as keywords.
That way, unless you have a very unique article or title, your code (ex.gibberish) will make it easier to find.
Mike
Google alerts is a great way to track people stealing your stuff. A lot of people are also creating auto blogs that pull content from your rss feeds, and produced content without them even have to do a thing. Sometimes they even end up ranking better than the original. Sad.
These are the dilemmas most bloggers face..it was wise on your part in setting up the google alert..
Stealing is not a good thing, especially taking the hardworks of others without their permission.
i hate thieves they really piss me off!

It is lame when folks on the internet steal articles. I have seen it a whole bunch and find it extremely disheartening. These people need to learn how to give people credit.

Are Content Thieves Stealing Your Revenue? by Sonia Simone. Content Thief ….. Are you publishing articles in forums on the Internet? …

so still content is the king, was reading some where that google is going to change its policy about content.
Hi,
Its right still content is the king and it still rules.
This title is really interesting.. Thank you so much for everything. I’m follower to this website from now on. Bye for now.
Such guys should be caught and their posting right should be canceled for the life time.
Sometimes you have to follow the aggressive path. I don’t think sending a simple email would turn that scrapper’s head towards sanity. If he was sane, he would’ve never started it in the first place. I would suggest going for DMCA(Digital Millennium Copyright Act) and reporting them.
Regards
Content is and will remain the king, I can bet at that, Any day!
Nice insights, and i would like to suggest use copy scape for finding your duplicates.
Great information thanks for sharing this with us.In fact in all posts of this blog their is something to learn . your work is very good and i appreciate your work and hopping for some more informative posts . Again thanks for sharing.
this problem is not only with blogs, contents thieves also stealing the contents from websites and even from forums. this is great dilemma.
very interesting post, i think the only solution to avoid from content theft,is just publish your post on social bookmarking sites in order to get your page index as early as possible.
Such fellows should be put behind bars. Anyway good thing I read your post. You have given me a very valuable information. Thank You so much.
I was pretty sure google had safeguards to prevent duplicate content from being ranked. Someone copied one of my Bountiful, Utah real estate blog posts and it was removed from queries.
These thieves should be punished…We take the pain to write articles and they have the nerve to steal. Anyway thanks for your tip…will be more careful in the future.
I found your post really interesting. I found Internet marketing a really a great way of promoting a website. I found good results when I started internet marketing my website.
This has also happened to me any times as my articles were stolen and posted on some other blog. How can we stop this?
I don’t understand why people steal. Also I wonder how these people can be content after stealing someone else’ work?
Well you could try discrediting him. Or keep asking nicely. Or you can ask the moderators of the blogsite of his to help out.
I can understand how you feel, its horrible to see someone else getting credit for your hard work and persistence. But there is nothing we can do about it, because you yourself have tried the best method, that is to ask the person politely. Other than that theres not much you can do except take better precautions in the future.
Yeah it usually happens and it is one of the common problems.
Why are they doing that? I think it’s because they don’t know how to write good quality contents and maybe they’re just lazy about writing stuff.
It would be okay if they acknowledge you as an author but if not, then its bad..
It’s not worth the effort to try and track down everyone who scrapes content from you. The best thing you can do is to place a couple of in-content links in each article that link back to your site using relevant keywords, so that every time someone scrapes your stuff you’ll get a few more backlinks. Scrapers then become your friend, not your enemy. This is probably the most effective way to deal with them, because it gives your site that much more mojo.
This is gonna huge, i just cant belive it that i am standing at a great blog of my life, i am really glad to have my comment here in very decent topic. thanks to webmaster.
Oh, that’s really sad that your article content was stolen. I think such people are really bad who try to get fame by stealing others material.
the article copiers are just lazzy and they don’t know that they are just westing their time, because they will surely left their task between the path.
I am a blog writer myself and I know how bad it feels when you see your blog post under someone else’ name.
That’s terribly sad thing to happen. Some of the people above have said to use google alerts. Don’t know how it works but is there any other way to stop this??
It can be hard to keep the posting up sometimes. I work a part time job, and go to school; sometimes those 30-45 minutes are hard to find. I usually try to maintain a backlog of 3-4 posts incase I am not able to write one day.
Great blog. All posts have something to learn. Your work is very good and i appreciate you and hopping for some more informative posts.
It’s very disheartening and sad to know that people steal your hard work without giving due credit. These thieves should be punished. Thanks for sharing valuable information.
Nice post.It is very wrong picking up others article and posting it on their blogs. It is just a warning for new blogger.
A few years ago I wrote an article about coupon codes and how to market them. Last week I was buying some banner advertising in one forum and found my article there …with another author’s name and with links to his website.
There is nothing we can do about it, because you yourself have tried the best method, that is to ask the person politely. Other than that there’s not much you can do except take better precautions in the future. Nice post.
We must punish the content thief.. Its a worst work stealing other ideas, knowledge and their hardwork..
Great blog
Thanks for sharing..

This information is some of the best I have found on this topic for me, I really appreciate this point of view and I’ve found it to be more reliable then some, I will be recommending it to others.
