If you are on Twitter, you have probably seen a few tweets lately related to TweeterGetter.com
You may have seen a tweet similar to the following:
“RT @garymccaffrey has a crazy idea. 19,530 new twitter followers in 30 days? Check it out”
The link in that tweet will take you to TweeterGetter which is an interesting little site. The site is intended to help you build a good number of followers.
Here’s how it works. You input your Twitter login and password. The service posts a tweet to your account related to the TweeterGetter service. Someone reads your tweet goes to the site, likes the ideas and inputs their Twitter username and password, and the same type of tweet is posted to their Twitter account.
Furthermore, as people you recommend to the service, and people they recommend to the service also signup for the service they are added as a follower to your Twitter account. So, you could potentially get a large number of new followers.
At first glance this looks like a cool tool that could provide a large number of followers for you as it goes viral.
But, as with most tools of this type, there are some negatives associated with TweeterGetter.com
By doing a Google search I have found that some people are very put off by this type of tool, some consider it Twitter spam and some see it as some unethical pyramid type of downline building tool.
I don’t agree with the above view points, because as a Twitter member I have the option of following, and not following, who ever I choose.
My biggest concern would be, you would run the risk of having some people who currently follow you, unsubscribe from your tweets if you tweet to them about this tool.
Because curiosity got the better of me, I had to try out the TweeterGetter service. I love new ideas and this seemed like an interesting idea that had potential.
So, I have signed up. If I lose some of my current followers, so be it, I am not a strong tweeter anyway.
I suspect that most people who follow me as a result of this service will not be strong followers, and many will ignore my tweets or they will stop following me later.
But, I believe in spreading a wide net, and hope to catch a few new followers, and follow a few new people that I would not have known about otherwise.
If you have a very small Twitter follow list, this may be a great tool for you to start getting your list built.
I would imagine this service will have a short lifespan as people on Twitter get tired of seeing the TweeterGetter service message, so if you want to give it a try, now would probably be a good time.
If you want to give this Twitter tool a try, sign up here.
If you are interested in following my tweets, but are not interested in trying the TweeterGetter tool, you can follow my tweets here.
